Id theft has become a common problem, Lot of hackers mainly from china and Russia are sending lots of spam mails to most of the internet users in order to install virus and also to get their personal information. The most common spam emails are award winning email; lottery winning emails (The Irish lottery, The African Lottery) ask for personal information or ask us to transfer some amount for processing the lottery amount. All the mails are from internet hackers who want to cheat you. Even I got a mail claiming to be yahoo account services asking for my email password and private information; they also warned me that if I don’t provide it my yahoo id will be closed in thirty days. But I know that this mail is from person who wants to hack my yahoo id. Before replying to this type of mails think no one will provide you with free money. It is always hard earned.

I request all internet users not to reveal any bank or credit card or any other personal information on a site unless you trust it as worthy. Even while transactions check the site for a secure connection   https://    is a secure connection all the information sent is encrypted   http://  is not a secured internet connection. Using a http:// connection any one in between can easily get the data as it is not encrypted.

Do not signup for sites given the user name and password similar to that of your email , bank accounts & other important online accounts like Demat account. There are many websites which asks for sign ups in order to obtain the username and password as most people use the same user name and password for all their internet accounts.

Having a computer with a internet connection is safe but all of us cant afford it. Many of us use Internet café , Browsing  centers  for carrying  out bank related activities . Transaction carried out in a public computer will no be considered safe. But just remember to delete the browsing history before you come out of the cafes.

Social networking sites, friendship network, dating websites.

Most probably every common internet user will be member of any of the social networking websites. Don’t not reveal your real name full qualification, full address, your family details, Like real life cheaters there are online cheaters looking for a prey. There are terrorists who want to get sim cards, passports, they will use your address and details in order to get sim cards and you will be in trouble.. A girl died in India because she is blackmailed by  a person who got a lot of information about the girl from a social network site.
